Open House and Cookout

We had a great time at the open house and cookout at Veteran
Falls!  Thanks to all of you who came out to tour the falls and
have lunch with us.  We served a total of 722 hamburgers and
hotdogs and a whole lot of Dublin Dr. Pepper!

We would like to give a special thank you to our sponsors who
continually go above and beyond in their support of this
memorial.  The cookout was provided by Hanson Pipe and
Precast.  They have a big trailer that they take to big events (like
the Dallas Cowboy games) that has grills, tables & chairs, tents
and big screen tvs.  They brought it in and prepared all the food
right there on site.  Hats off to Mario and Rueben for their grill
skills!  Hansons provided the food and Dublin Dr. Pepper
provided the drinks.  Everyone loves Dublin Dr. Pepper and
couldn't pass up the opportunity for a free one!

Another sponsor that we always know we can count on is Bob
Luecke of No Limits Powersports.  He brought a couple of his
Joyners and spent the day giving rides to visitors.  Everyone
always enjoys having him and his Joyners there!

A special thanks to all those who attended this event!

Veteran's Day Commemoration

We were blessed to be able to host an event, the day before
Veteran's Day, to honor America's Heroes.  The event was held
at Celebration Hall and Granbury Live in beautiful downtown
Granbury, on the square.  Many of our sponsors were in
attendance, along with local dignitaries and business owners, but
the guests of honor were our veterans.

We gathered in Celebration Hall for a "Meet and Greet" and
spent some time visiting with old friends and getting to know
new ones.  There was a beautiful buffet and lots of
Dublin Dr. Pepper.
We moved into Granbury Live for the program.  There was
entertainment and a slide show of the construction of Veteran
Falls, but the hit of the evening were the retired veterans who
spoke about their service and about their support of Veteran
Falls.  The evening brought light to exactly why it is important
for us to build Veteran Falls.

Recognition For Fallen Soldiers

We have had the pleasure of hosting some great events and
meeting some wonderful people, but the event we had on Friday,
Dec. 18th touched the very core of our souls.

An intimate group gathered at Veteran Falls to honor two of the
heroes who gave their lives for this country.  The families of both
soldiers were in attendance and shared photos and stories of
their sons with us.  Their grace and their pride made it easy to
see how they raised the kind of sons who would put their lives on
the line for others.  We were truly blessed to have met them.

Robert presented each family with a stone, engraved with their
son's name, rank and the date of his death.  They selected a
resting place for the stones in the canyon of Veteran Falls, where
the water will someday flow.

We were excited to have the entire "ceremony" filmed by Fox
News out of New York, for a segment they aired on Christmas
day.  They said that Christmas is a time of giving, and no one
gives more than our soldiers and their families.  The piece was so
well received that they aired it again the next day, on their
national network and a number of local Fox newtorks picked it
up, airing it over the following few days.   Thanks Fox!

God Bless Our Soldiers and Their Families.
